Although these might actually be useless in real business, I think it would be funny to walk up to the door of a retail store only to be greeted by one of these signs! They make me laugh!

Isn't this just too much fun? I LOVED my legos as a kid. Heck I still love building with legos!!!

This'll make ya laugh! Unfortunately, you can't get 'em in time for Christmas...they're sold out!

Does it feel like your brain is running on empty? Want to fill it with some useless/useful trivia? Here's the site for you: http://www.learnsomethingeveryday.co.uk/

Why didn't I come up with this idea? In Japan, a design firm is designing CUTE barcodes! Duh!! They're commanding up to $4,000.00 for an exclusively designed bar code. Shoot! Guess I'll keep playin' the lottery until my big idea comes along.

Some day I'll have an uber cool, ultra modern, sleek house and when I do, I'm so going to have this fireplace! It burns ethanol fuel, doesn't create soot or smoke and doesn't need a chimney. In other words, it ROCKS!

Until then, you'll find me here in Westfield...sigh.

Someone is getting this for Christmas.
Hmmm, now who should I give it to????

Have you seen the newly designed penny? No? There are 4 new versions of the penny - a coin I think is well deserving of a redesign if I do say so myself!! All are involving Abraham Lincoln. Why? These new Lincoln pennies are redesigned in recognition of the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birth and the 100th anniversary of the first issuance of the Lincoln cent.

Check em out! We already got one in our change so be on the lookout coin lovers!!

New words have been added to the Merriam Webster Dictionary. Sorry folks, they aren't new and improved cuss words or anything you haven't already said (well maybe one or two of them are). The words are:
  • Locavore (one who eats foods grown locally)
  • Frenemy (someone who acts like a friend but is really an enemy)
  • Waterboarding (an interrogation technique use to induce the sensation of drowning)
  • Vlogs (a blog that contains video material)
  • Webisode (a TV show that can be viewed at a Web site)
  • Flash mob (a group of people summoned electronically to a designated spot at a specified time to perform an indicated action before dispersing)
  • Green-collar (involving actions for protecting the natural environment)
  • Sock puppet (false online identity used for deceptive purposes)
  • Staycation (a vacation where you stay at home)
Feel free to use 'em now, Merriam Webster has made 'em official!

Oscar Mayer passed away on Monday at the age of 95. He requested that the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile NOT make an appearance at his funeral for fear it would cause too much of a spectacle.

R.I.P. Oscar! I love you hot dog man!!!!

June 25, 2009 - The day music changed forever with the passing of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I don't remember music when Michael wasn't in it. I loved Michael, despite all of his idiosyncrasies and accusations, I always loved Michael for the true talent and entertainer that he was. I know I'll miss Michael but I'm so glad I have all this great music to keep him alive in my memory forever.

Thank you Michael!!

GASP! I want it!

Flossing. For the love of our gums, we all have to do it. But let's face it, it's not really all that much fun. Floss is just floss. Sure they make that mint flavored floss but does it inspire you to floss religiously? I doubt it.

I have the cure!
Bacon flavored dental floss! Now this is a floss I could get into!

Not a fan of salt-cured meats? Ok, I've got one for ya! How about cupcake frosting floss? What's better than flossing with something that tastes like pure sugar?

Careful, my fine flossing friends, you just might become a flossaholic!

It's official Spring has sprung! So what's it do today? Snow! Crazy Indiana weather!

Just before the snow fell, this weekend, I took some pics of my spring-like surroundings. Here's proof that spring IS in fact, in the air!

Are you happy? Do you live a contented, carefree life? How boring! What you lack are contrasts. You clearly need problems to solve.

Good news! Now you can

In my never-ending quest to fill Rich's stomach and keep the kid happy, I was looking around at different breakfast recipes. By far, Rich's favorite meal is a good hearty breakfast. He really loves biscuits and gravy but I'm not a big fan. So I'm always looking for something that we can both enjoy AND that will fill his tummy.

Check this breakfast tart out. I haven't tried it yet! I think tomorrow night just might be one of those breakfast for supper kind of nights!!

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Tart
From Williams-Sonoma

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Tart

Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry dough
1 egg, lightly beaten with 1 tsp. water
3 oz. crème fraîche
2 oz. shredded Gruyère cheese (I'll have to use mozzarella because we all know Rich doesn't like cheese - big, ol weirdo!)
Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
8 bacon slices, cooked until crisp
3 eggs
10 fresh chives, cut on the bias into 1/2-inch lengths

Directions

  1. Thaw the puff pastry dough according to the package instructions.
  2. Preheat an oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  3. On lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into a 10-by-8-inch rectangle. Place the pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Using a paring knife, score a border 1/2 inch in from the edge of the pastry. Using a fork, prick the center of the pastry. Brush the border with the egg wash and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, stir together the crème fraîche and cheese, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Spread the crème fraîche mixture on the pastry, keeping the border clean. Lay the bacon on top, slightly overlapping the slices. Bake the tart for 14 minutes, rotating the baking sheet halfway through baking.

  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and place it on a level heatproof surface. Using a fork, prick any large air pockets in the pastry. Crack the eggs onto the tart, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake until the egg whites are set and the yolks are still soft, 7 to 10 minutes.
  7. Transfer the tart to a platter, garnish with the chives and serve immediately.

Serves 4 normal sized people or just me and Rich, if you know Rich, you know what I mean!

I love going to World Market in Carmel. They have unusual food & decor from around the globe and a great selection of chocolate and candy from various parts of the world. Well, I'm officially addicted to two "new" candy bars (though I think they sold both of these in the "good ol days).

The first one is called Big Hunk.
It's a big ol hunk o'nougat with nuts in it - NOT drenched in chocolate. You just get the nougat. Oh yummy. Put this little hunk of goodness in the micro for 4-5 seconds and it softens right up to a chewy bit of deliciousness! The nuts just add that bit of crunchiness that it needs. Yummo!

The second one is called a Lion bar.

It's got crispy wafers and rice, along with just the right amount of chewy carmel all wrapped in a delectable milky chocolate. *gasp*

If your mouth is watering, just let me know, I'll pick up a spare bar for you of either (or both) and try not to devour it before I deliver it to you!
