Still using Internet Explorer?
WHY?
When Firefox is so much better!

Firefox is much more secure than Internet Explorer and more reliable. And you know those crazy windows that pop open all the time asking you if you "really" want to do what you just asked Internet Explorer to do, well those are gone too! The part I like the most is how it manages passwords on various websites for you. When you log in to a site you regularly visit, Firefox will ask if you want it to remember the password. Guess what folks, it really does it! You know how Explorer will allow you to check the "remember password" box on websites but you visit that site again and it didn't remember it...Firefox actually does it. Download it and give it a try. You'll like it!

I heard the five secrets to a happy relationship....

1. It's important to find a man who helps you in your home...cooking, cleaning, washing...and that he has a good job.

2. It's important to find a man who can make you laugh.

3. It's important to find a man you can trust and doesn't lie.

4. It's important to find a man who is good in bed and loves to have sex with you.

5. It's important that these four men doesn't know each other.

about the laziness of using the same password all the time for everything with slight differences....
When one uses a password, it leaves a small mark in the greater scheme of things.
Those with technical know how can usually arrive at your personal password if it follows a specific series of qualifiers.
The last four numbers of your ssn
your telephone number (though this one reads as strong when you first use it)
your birthday when spelt out
your birthday when it's all numbers
your street plus a number (one if single, two if married three plus counting children)
(Some people are probably already scrambling to change their numbers from reading this)
but, rest assured.
Really technical folks can eventually land on a 32 digit combination within a week if you use it everywhere.
It makes a 'mark' (I'm NOT technical, I dunno. This is all from the New York Times from a couple few weeks ago, and I'll bet the terms I'm using are better styated in the article) and once found, the culprit that wants to steal from you is going to plug that number into every bank he can.

How to battle?
Chasnge your password with some regularity.
Use different passwords, but, never never never click on the 'remember me' box. (if I remember right, this is one of the ways it makes the 'mark'....

So....
feeling contrary, am I?
HA!
I'm just cresting the top of the iceberg!
Don't deal money over the net at all
don't deal with money through credit cards
cancel your paypal, e-bay, and nigerian secret account.

Stuff your cash under your matress and lock the doors.

Hide.
They are watching you.

(right now.....)

Good points you're making here. I have firefox on my desktop & never use it...I have no idea why.

Bo...thank you for the dissertation on password selection and security on the net. I'm happy to report, I'll take my chances.

None of your theories on password creation encompass how mine are created. But then I'm probably not the "norm".

A real techie could log on your computer and in a matter of seconds have your password. Sure as heck doesn't take a week.

In fact, I'm enough of a hacker to get on your computer and get it myself within in just minutes.
